After graduation, most students will be required to return to their home countries. For those wishing to pursue additional training in the United States, there are several agencies that may sponsor advanced culinary training on the J-1 visa. Please contact them directly to find out if they will work with you. The International Culinary Center cannot help you with this process other than to direct you to the following websites.
These organizations are approved by the State Department to issue the form DS-2019, which allows you to apply for a J-1 visa in your home country. They charge fees to their applicants, ranging from around $800 to more than $2000 depending on the level of service provided and whether they include health insurance.
The J-1 visa permits a hospitality trainee to get paid for training in the US for a period up to 12 months. Trainees must have either: a professional certificate or degree from a foreign post-secondary academic institution and at least a year of prior related work experience outside the US; or, five years of related work experience outside the US. Different organizations have different interpretations of the regulations, but if you do not have either a degree from your home country or extensive work experience in the field, you are probably not eligible.
위 내용처럼 제가 이런 에이전트를 통해서 J1으로 전환이 될 수 있을지 과연 의문입니다. 변호사님의 의견을 여쭙고 싶습니다.
